Overview

EtBr and SYBR Dye Decontamination - Is well known that Ethidium Bromide (EtBr), the most common dye used in DNA electrophoresis, is highly genotoxic and is classified as a mutagenic and carcinogenic substance to human body. For this reason it is strongly recommended follows Good Laboratory Practice recommendation when working with EtBr. Our EtBr Cleaner is a special reagent to degrade and remove Ethidium Bromide. The result is a non-fluorescent and non-mutagenic residue. EtBr Cleaner also shows outstanding performance to remove SYBR Dye.

CHARACTERISTICS

EtBr Cleaner can remove EtBr by applying on the contaminated area, by just spraying and wiping. The product is hypoallergenic and decomposes EtBr quickly and effectively.

APPLICATIONS

EtBr Cleaner is suitable for decontamination of gels and surfaces including benchtop, table, glassware, electrophoresis apparatus and any other object supposed to be contaminated by EtBr and/or SYBR Dye.

USAGE INFORMATION

Surfaces and accessories decontamination:Spray at least 3 times the product on surfaces or equipments contaminated by EtBr or SYBR dye. Wait for 30-40 minutes and remove the residue with a paper towel. Additionally, it is possible to confirm the decontamination using UV equipment.

Note: If the material was used for long period in contact with Ethidium Bromide, might be necessary to repeat decontamination process. Gel decontamination:In a gel stained with EtBr, spray a considerable amount of product. It is necessary to soak the gel with Etbr Cleaner. Wait 30 to 40 minutes. View the gel in the UV equipment and confirm that gel is colorless at UV (agarose gel contaminated with Etbr is red/pink once exposed at UV light).
